Summary: Rose is officially questioned about her child.
Rose tapped her fingers on the tabletop.
One. Two. Three. Four.
One. Two. Three. Four.
If she kept up the pretense of impatience, perhaps she could make herself believe it. Being frustrated and annoyed was definitely preferred to being terrified.
The cold sweat wasn’t helping her charade, though.
Nor was the trembling of her hands as the inquisitor spoke again.
“Now, tell me about the child,” he said, the command hard on his voice.
He already knew everything he needed to know. She’d given him intimate details of her life with the Doctor, anything and everything she knew about him. All of it went down in a notebook.
The injections had done their duty.
Her tongue had definitely been loosened.
No amount of pretending could undo what she had done.
The parentage of her child was now officially noted in the records, there would be no denying it now.
Even if her baby did pass for human, she’d still be tagged with an ID chip.
There would be no escaping it.
One. Two. Three. Four.
“I think I can go now,” Rose said calmly.
This was only round one. They could get more information out of her later. Right now, she just needed to find some place to curl up and go to sleep.
Carefully standing up, Rose didn’t wait for him to dismiss her.
If they were going to come for her in the night, they could come for her in the night, her brain told her, going along with the pretense of annoyance. Really all she wanted to do was return to her bed.
Hopefully someone would be free to drive her home.
