Doctor Who: Intruders
Title:Intruders
Characters: Rose
Rating: PG
Prompt:
60damnprompts: 60 days in the life of Rose Tyler: Day 49: Whisper (Table)
Summary: Rose learns of someone new watching her
Her file was as carefully detailed as any other she'd seen on someone who had merely faced the inquisition phase. Behind one tab the transcript of her interview was written out for the world to see. Behind another, the detailed map of her body--the one done for identification purposes when she joined Torchwood--noted every known mark on her body. Her recent surgery and a detailed description of her scar were listed on the impersonal female outline.
Unable to help herself, Rose followed the little link tucked in the corner which took her to the newest part of her file. Or rather, the beginnings of the dossier on the child she carried inside her.
The baby was listed as female, which was quite obvious in any scan.
The assumed date of conception was also listed. Apparently, they trusted her maths were accurate. Being pregnant over a year sometimes made her doubt herself, but given there was only the one time to count back from, it had to be then or never.
A multitude of notes littered the section on the DNA structure of the baby. Rose wasn't at all surprise to see words such as 'extraordinary' and 'unbelievable'. Of course it was like nothing they had ever seen before.
"Did you see it yet?" Mickey asked.
"Haven't looked yet," Rose admitted as she tucked the phone more firmly between her ear and shoulder before pulling up the GSF logs like he'd instructed nearly five minutes before.
Out of the list of globenet service facilitators, she recognised most of the logins as belonging to various universities and medical bodies, but there were a few she didn't know. A handful were even blocked. How someone could lock a log on a Torchwood site, Rose had no idea. It was practically impossible.
"Who are they?" she asked, her heart pounding in her chest.
"No idea. Keisha heard someone talking about it in medical."
"You already said that." Rose wasn't sure whether the intruders made her nervous or relieved. Someone was looking into her case. Perhaps they even meant to help keep her safe from her new enemies. "Do you think it's the Underground?"
"I don't know. I was thinking the same thing. If it is, they'll be in touch with you soon." There was a shuffle and voices suddenly taking on Mickey's side before he said, "Gotta go. I'll call you later."
"Alright."
The line went dead and Rose dropped her mobile back on onto her mattress so she could scroll through her daughter's file.
"That's not what I said," Rose argued with the screen.
Knowing reading any more would only make her more angry, she logged out of the Torchwood records and pulled up the clothing website she had been browsing before Mickey rang.
Being able to actually afford any of the tops and accessories she liked wasn't as much fun when she wasn't able to fit in them at the moment. Scrolling through the screen, she looked at when she'd already put in her shopping basket.
There was one blue top she could where now, as it was loose enough. She also had a hopeful black dress, gorgeous, but it would have to wait until after she'd had her baby, if she lost enough weight to fit into it, that was.
Removing the dress, she purchased the top and shut off her computer.
Curling up in her room had been haven. It was the one place she felt almost safe, but Mickey's heads up had only served to put her back on edge.
No where was entirely safe.
